HandiTrap II VOD Recorder

Click here to enlarge image Applications:
1. Records the velocity of detonation (VOD) continuously along the length of a
column of explosives loaded into one blasthole and records the delay time
between decks of explosives if the blasthole is decked.
2. Multiple HandiTrap IIs can be linked together and time synchronized to
determine the delay times between blastholes.
3. Records the VOD continuously along the length of a sample of explosives or
sample of detonating cord.
Users: Mines, Quarries, Blasting Contractors,
Explosives Manufacturers, Universities, Blasting Consultants.
Description:
The HandiTrap II VOD Recorder is the world's most affordable explosives
continuous VOD recorder for testing explosives loaded into one blasthole and for
testing explosives samples. For explosives samples, the procedure is identical
to that for the
HandiTrap.

For blastholes, within minutes the blaster can tape the end of the factory made
length of
VOD
PROBECABLE-HT to the booster and load it into the blasthole, connect the
other factory prepared end of the PROBECABLE-HT with electrical tape to the
coaxial signal cable on the cable reel and extend the signal cable to the
HandiTrap II where it is connected. Before leaving the blast, the Operator turns
ON the HandiTrap II and presses the START button and leaves the HandiTrap
unattended to record the results automatically when the hole fires. When the
explosives detonates, the HandiTrap automatically records distance and time
data. After the test the data is transferred from the HandiTrap II to a PC or
PDA for graphical display and VOD analysis which shows VOD behavior along the
length of the blasthole or explosives sample.
The HandiTrap II is far superior to discrete point VOD recorders (such as those
using fibre-optics) because the HandiTrap II collects 131,072 data points at a
recording speed of 1 MHz to precisely profile the change in length with time of
the VOD PROBEROD (explosives samples) or VOD PROBECABLE-HT (boreholes) as it is
consumed in the detonation head.
Accessories:
30 m (100 ft.) spool of VOD PROBECABLE-HT for loading into one blasthole. 0.9 m
(3 ft.) long rigid VOD PROBEROD for inserting into an explosives sample. Coaxial
signal cable (RG-58/U) for connecting between the VOD PROBECABLE-HT or VOD
PROBEROD and the HandiTrap II.
Requirements:
A PC running Windows '95 or later, or a PDA running the Palm operating system is
required for post-test data transfer, distance versus time graphical display,
and comprehensive VOD analyses of the data. All software is provided at no
additional cost and may be installed on an unlimited number of PCs and PDAs.
