Description:
NEW in 2005:
Responding to the data acquisition industry's demand for a portable, rugged,
accurate, and easy-to-use multichannel data recorder; MREL, the world's leading
manufacturer of continuous VOD recorders for the explosives industry, is pleased
to introduce the new DataTrap II Data/VOD Recorder.
HIGH SPEED and HIGH RESOLUTION:
With recording speeds of up to 10 MHz per channel and 14 bit resolution, the
DataTrap II has the ability to record fast phenomena with detailed accuracy. The
DataTrap II even has a real-time mode with data streaming speed limited only by
the operator's computer and its USB 2.0 connection.
UNLIMITED CHANNEL EXPANDABILITY:
The DataTrap II can handle present and future data acquisition requirements. It
has a standard 8 channels and multiple DataTrap II Recorders can be connected to
each other to synchronize time and trigger events when more channels are
required.
MEMORY TO BURN:
With a variety of memory configurations available 128 to 512 MB of internal RAM
and a selection of non-volatile compact memory If

cards, there is sufficient secure memory for even the longest critical data
acquisition events.
NOW THIS IS RUGGED:
PC card based data acquisition systems continuously fail in the field. Count on
the DataTrap II to be fully operational under conditions where other data
recorders won't even survive. The DataTrap II is drop-proof from a 1 m (3 ft.)
height, has an operational temperature range from -40 to +80 °C (-40 to +185
°F), and it is snow, rain, dust and sand proof. The DataTrap II is utilized by
the mining industry to record the performance of explosives. The DataTrap II is
fully functional without the need of utilizing a computer in the field.
IMMEDIATE RESULTS:
After the event, the DataTrap II Advanced Analytical Software makes the download
of data from the memory card or directly from the DataTrap II, analysis,
graphical presentation, and printing of the results simple point-and-click
operations. Export of the data to other Windows programs is also a simple
point-and-click operation.
VOD UPGRADE FOR BLASTERS:
The DataTrap II can be upgraded to provide 8 channels of explosives continuous
velocity of detonation (VOD) recording for the blasting industry. Ideal for
blasts where multiple holes are detonating simultaneously or where a combination
of VOD recording and recording of other gauges, such as pressure gauges, is
being conducted.
Gauge Recording Applications:
1. Use one or more channels for any data acquisition application including
temperature, strain, vibration, pressure, acceleration or any other signal that
has an output within -10 to +10 VDC.
2. Use lower speeds to record longer events (8 channels = 5.33 minutes @ 100
kHz, 533 minutes @ 1 kHz) in extreme environmental and high-G situations where
most data acquisition systems would not survive.
3. Use the real time mode to stream data indefinately to a USB 2.0 connected
computer, streaming rate only limited by the computer and the connection.
4. Connect multiple DataTrap IIs together to synchronize time and trigger events
when more than 8 channels are required.
5. After the event, transfer recorded data to a computer using USB 2.0 or using
a CompactFlash Memory Card.
6. Utilize the DataTrap II Advanced Analytical Software to display and analyze
the data and/or export the data for analyses using 3rd party software packages.
Explosives VOD Recording Applications:
1. Records the velocity of detonation (VOD) continuously along the length of
columns of explosives loaded into one or several blastholes and records the
delay time between decks of explosives if the blastholes are decked.
2. Determines the delay times between multiple blastholes.
3. Records the VOD continuously along the length of a sample of explosives or
sample of detonating cord.
4. The DataTrap II has 8 channels which allows testing of eight blastholes or
explosives samples detonating simultaneously or conduct VOD tests on one or more
channels and record other gauges on one or more remaining channels.
5. Records up to 10 data points per microsecond for a very detailed view of
explosives samples detonating.
Users:
Suitable for all Researchers, Instrumentation Engineers, Technicians and Field
Trials Personnel tired of having their PC-hosted data acquisition systems fail
in the field at the slightest hint of high/low temperatures, rain, dust or
vibration.
Upgrade Options and Accessories:
A wide range of gauges, signal conditioners, VOD accessories and signal cables
are available directly from MREL. Please refer to the
VOD/Data Recorders and Accessories Product List for complete details.
Requirements:
A PC running Windows '95 or later is required for post-test data transfer,
graphical display of time versus distance, voltage, or user-defined units. All
software is provided at no additional cost and may be installed on an unlimited
number of PCs.
