Applications:
Borehole inspections at mining and quarrying sites.
Geological surveys.
Chimney inspections.
Concrete footing inspections.
Rescue operations.
Retrieval operations.
Users: Mines, Quarries, Blasting Contractors,
Explosives Manufacturers, Universities, Government Agencies, Blasting
Consultants, Construction Contractors, Rescue Teams. Although designed for the
blasting industry, the Explorer Borehole Inspection Camera has found many uses
in other industries.
Description: The Explorer is an optical scanning
system specifically designed for inspection of both the bottom and sides of
boreholes.
The system is ideal for all applications that require a high-resolution colour
image of the borehole and its sidewalls. The Explorer's unique double camera
configuration gives the operator a 360 degree view of all cavities and
obstacles, including cavities in the sidewall.
Features Include:
Two colour cameras in probe for optimal view of bottom and sidewalls of
borehole.
Fully portable, installs at borehole in less than 3 minutes.
Specially designed LED illumination with built-in dimmer gives ample light
for high-resolution image of deep cavities and cracks.
Fully integrated video recorder in control unit with DV out for accurate
documentation and analysis.
Fully integrated rechargeable batteries give 20 hours of continuous
operation.
Built to military specifications to ensure reliable operation in severe
conditions.
Standard camera probe is waterproof to 10 m (30 ft.) of water, optional
probe waterproof to 30 m (100 ft.) of water.
Example Videos:
"Mother of all Caves": This video was shot at a construction site where
the drills dropped at about 20 meters. After scanning the boreholes with the
Explorer Borehole Inspection Camera, the operators discovered a huge cavity that
opened up at 20 meters and continued to a depth of 60 meters - a total of 40
meters of void.
The red cable seen in the borehole is a power cord feeding independent cave
illumination. The cave was too big for the Explorer's built-in LEDs. Right-click

"Limestone Cracks": A total of about 200 kg of AN/FO explosives were
loaded into this borehole prior to optical inspection. The explosives
"disappeared" and the Explorer team was called in. The video shows large cracks
at the bottom of the borehole and some residues of the explosives. At the end of
the video clip there is a particularly fine view of the side cavities, filmed
with the side-view camera. Right-click to download 5.55Mb avi video

"Layers": This video demonstrates the fine resolution of the cameras and
the potential for use with quick geological surveys. Right-click to download
